Got Chinese Permanent Resident via Marriage: Revoked on Divorce?

If I obtained my Chinese permanent resident ID Card through marriage to a Chinese, will the Card’s validity be affected if we divorce?

As we all know, after a foreigner marries a Chinese, he or she can apply for Chinese permanent resident if satisfy the conditions, which is usually valid for 5 or 10 years. If the couple divorces during this period, will the Card still be valid?

In fact, if a foreigner divorces after obtaining a permanent resident card, he or she can keep using the card until it expires. However, it is crucial to note that when the Card nears its expiration date, the holder must apply for renewal within the specified time frame.

If foreigners need to renew their permanent resident after divorce, the Ministry of Public Security will reassess their qualifications. If they no longer meet the eligibility requirements, there is no way to renew it!
