Dubai is a city that thrives on ambition and diversity. Since moving here a year and a half ago, I’ve been able to start two companies and a shop, purchase a beautiful villa and cars. This journey has been both rewarding and transformative, even though I had a successful life in China, with my own business, a home, and cars.So, why did I decide to take this leap and make Dubai my new home?

Dubai is an international financial hub with progressive policies and a welcoming environment for foreigners. In fact, 87% of the population here is comprised of expats, including around 400,000 Chinese nationals. With my husband also being an expat, Dubai provides the ideal setting for our cross-cultural marriage. Here, I’m able to stay connected to Chinese culture and cuisine, while he enjoys the diverse culinary options available. Dubai’s inclusiveness extends beyond food and lifestyle—it fosters a true sense of belonging for people of all backgrounds, religions, and languages.

Boundless Business and Career Opportunities

Dubai’s economy is rapidly expanding, offering immense growth potential across various sectors, including trade, logistics, e-commerce, real estate, and entertainment. Unlike the highly competitive market in China, Dubai offers a unique platform for growth and innovation. Our decision to expand into Dubai added new dimensions to our existing business in China, creating fresh opportunities to explore innovative projects and boost our company’s competitiveness. The four-hour time difference between Dubai and China allows us to manage both companies seamlessly and efficiently. 

A Supportive Environment for Family and Education

When I was pregnant, I chose to give birth in Dubai and experienced its high standard of medical care. The doctors here are compassionate and attentive, and the hospital environment is peaceful and impeccably maintained. Another important reason for my move was my desire to provide my children with a less pressured, globally-oriented education.

 I hope they can grow up happily, learning in an international environment, and develop the confidence to thrive in a globalized world. Additionally, Dubai’s legal framework permits the employment of experienced Filipino nannies, known for their dedication and expertise in childcare, which has been both convenient and affordable.

A Long-Awaited International Experience

Moving abroad has always been a dream of mine. Living in Dubai has given me the opportunity to broaden my horizons, connect with inspiring individuals from various backgrounds, and become more open-minded and self-assured. I did consider other locations, including Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, and various European countries. However, Dubai stood out for its warmth and acceptance of Chinese people, which reflects the strong diplomatic ties between China and the Middle East.

A Vibrant Lifestyle with Endless Attractions

Dubai offers a wealth of attractions, from luxury resorts and international events to world-class restaurants and a lively social scene. Everyday life here is exciting and filled with new experiences. Although the summers are hot and the cost of living is higher, I’ve adjusted to the climate, and a stable income has made it easier to adapt to the local cost of living.

A Choice for Growth and Belonging  

Ultimately, I chose Dubai to open new possibilities for my life and career. My husband and I run our businesses here, while our children attend international school, and we’ve found a place where everyone in our family can grow and belong. Should we ever miss China, it’s easy to visit, and we can always return to Dubai for a refreshing change. Our love for China remains strong, but we have come to love Dubai as well.
